Habits That Keep Your Skin Healthy and Beautiful Part 2

We’ll continue to explore the habits that help maintain a youthful appearance. These easy to follow tips help you stay healthy on the inside and gorgeous on the outside.
Hang out with the birds and the bees. Gardening or simply being around plants is a healthy habit. Your blood pressure stays stable whenever there are plants in the room. Even patients who had a view of trees as they recovered from surgery, were able to leave the hospital sooner.
Exercise moderately but steadily. While cardio training is very important, strength training is also as crucial to stay healthy as we age. After the mid-40s, everyone loses ¼ pound of muscle mass a year, gaining fat in its place. You can avoid this unwanted side effect of aging by just lifting weights 2 or 3 days a week for at least 30 minutes each time.
Help someone out or contribute to a cause near to your heart. There’s a lot of data that suggests the best way to be healthy is to be kind to others and there are innumerable ways to do that. Look for opportunities to use kindness among your family and friends at first.
Make your diet as colorful as the rainbow. Ideally, aim for nine servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Make sure that you are stressing variety. You can do that by choosing vegetables from every possible color: purple, green, red, yellow…
Swim with the small fish. Think fatty fish that is low in the food chain. They tend to have fewer pollutants in their bodies and are rich in beneficial oils. They contain the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA which many studies show can protect you from heart attacks. Omega-3s may also help ward off depression, Alzheimer’s disease, and age-related macular degeneration, a leading cause of blindness in older people.
Listen to music at least once every day. Music might help boost your immune system and will keep disease away from you. It doesn’t matter what type of music you listen to as long as you enjoy it. Dancing is also a very good idea…
Drink a cup of tea. Green tea in particular may fight prostate and breast cancer as well as heart disease. Black tea also promotes good health by very similar mechanism: they are both loaded with antioxidants.
Keep your waist trimmed. Your weight can remain the same while you lose muscle and substitute it for fat. Particularly dangerous is visceral fat and it is essential to keep it in check. Its excess is linked to a heightened risk of age-related ills such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. If your waist measures more than 35 inches (for a woman) or 40 inches (for a man), you probably have too much belly fat.
