Dermatologist Skin Care May Be Overrated At Best

Dermatologist skin care solutions vary depending on the doctor.  It sometimes seems as if there is no “accepted” or standard treatment for even the most common conditions.

Some doctors prescribe drugs or prescription ointments, while others suggest a more “complete” treatment plan.  Even a layperson should see that the more complete approach is always the best.

The lucky thing is this.  A complete plan for treating acne is really no different than a complete plan for preventing or reversing wrinkles.  In other words, if you follow the same plan throughout your life, your skin will be healthy, glowing, youthful-looking and blemish-free.

Your diet is the first part of your plan.

The things that you eat seriously affect the way that you look, believe it or not.  The foods that should be avoided are bad for your short and long-term health, inside and out.

Eat all that you want of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.  Within reason, eat all that you want of nuts, going light on the peanuts and cashews.

Try to include some fish in your diet, especially salmon.  One of the famous dermatologist skin care diets includes a serving of salmon, practically every day.

As long as you stay away from the Atlantic-farmed varieties, because of the mercury content, you should be okay with four servings per week, but it can get kind of boring.  Other meats are fine, too.  Actually, if you avoid a few specific foods, you can eat just about anything that you want, again within reason.

The specific foods to avoid are those that have a “high glycemic index”.  At least, that’s what some doctors call them.  They are also referred to as simple carbohydrates.  They include white sugar, white potatoes, white flour, white rice…just about anything “white”.

Those foods are not included in that popular dermatologist skin care diet, because they contribute to acne and they cause wrinkles.

They are bad for your long-term health, because they cause a cascade of molecular activity within your body that end up with the production of “Advanced Glycation End-products”, aptly called AGEs, because they age the cells of your body, slowly but surely.

So, along with taking a good multi-nutritional supplement, that’s how to treat skin conditions from the inside out.

Now, let’s look at how to treat them from the outside in.  This is where dermatologist skin care advice varies greatly.  What you will read here is the safest, and I believe the best approach.

Avoid petrolatum, mineral oil, paraffin, artificial preservatives, added fragrances, parabens and petrochemicals. The best way to do that is to look for all-natural products preserved with natural vitamin E, not the synthetic kind.

Natural vitamin E helps prevent age spots, wrinkles and sun damage.  It is good for eczema, psoriasis and acne.

Other antioxidants, such as coenzyme Q10 improve the skin’s moisture content and can even repair sun damage.  Add the protein keratin to the antioxidants and what you have is an anti-aging solution that can be used by anyone, regardless of their complexion type.

One more thing to remember: just because a product is labeled dermatologist skin care doesn’t mean much. The term is not regulated in the US. So, anybody can use it.

More important than the branding of the products, are the actual ingredients. Look for all natural ingredients free of parabens and other preservatives. Look for skin care products without fragrance and other irritants.

When you find a product that meets these criteria you will know you have found a safe, complete solution to aging skin care.

We have found one all natural skin care line that does meet all these criteria. It is the one we recommend to all our readers. To learn more visit the Xtend-Life website.

Dermology uses a three part skin care system that systematically attacks problem areas where signs of aging most often develop to form a complete anti-aging system that keeps your skin looking great.
